Sports

Quite the simple topic really. Broad, yet simple.

By request of my friend/soul mate/unbiological sister, I am taking this chance to share my opinion on sports, her obsession.

My opinion: It's a good obsession.

I like sports. They're fun and when you're good at them, it's quite a rewarding feeling. I mostly just play hockey. Said friend is actually our extremely loveable goalie for our half season and was this year for the school season. Sadly, she is leaving us.

Anyway, hockey, yes, the king of all sports.

Hockey is amazing. That's all there really is to it. I mean what other sport, besides figure skating, lets you skate around on ice really fast while trying to maintain some sort of control over your body? Plus you have to put a puck in a net. Easy concept, not so easy execution.

Let's see...there's also softball, of which I am rather fond.

I played for...8 years? However I've retired for the sake of the theatre! Which I love with all my heart, and is due up as a topic sometime in the near future. Anyway, softball, fun stuff. My friend also plays this and, I've heard, for I've never actually seen her play, is quite good.

Hmmm other sports...let's go with football, baseball, lacrosse, wrestling, golf, racing, and soccer.

Football. Not a fan, though I'm forced to watch it at least once a year and I have to play in the band at the school games. It's pointless to me. I understand it and I'm sure it's fun if you actually like it, but I see no need for the glorification of large men who like to attack each other for a ball.

Baseball. I spend half my life at baseball fields so I'm ok with this one. The only thing that makes me angry is that baseball players think baseball is better slash harder than softball. That and they use steroids way too much. It's called working out, try it. Here's a few bits of information for you: Despite the completely stupid naming of our sport, our ball is in fact harder than yours. It is also much larger and therefore harder to throw and hit long distances. Our bats are also longer. Our pitching is much more complicated. We also don't have cushiony grass in the infield to slow down a hard hit ball. Sorry, but we win.

Lacrosse. I just don't get it. I really don't I'm sorry. That's all I have to say.

Wrestling. Mad props to wrestlers who like actually wrestle. Like high school and college wrestling. That takes SERIOUS skill and dedication. However the professionals should maybe focus a little more on the sport and less on their image...just a thought.

Golf. I HATE golf. I'm really sorry but I just CANNOT watch it or play it or even talk about it. I find it exceedingly boring and I'm sure that could just be because I grew up with it on every single day and I just never saw any fun in it. I don't mean to offend. I apologize.

Racing. I don't see what's fun about driving a car around the same track over and over and over again for like 3 hours...And I especially don't see how someone can just watch this on tv...You don't even need to be physically fit to sit in a car and drive. How is this a sport?

Soccer. Soccer is an excellent sport. It takes serious skill and it's 100% real. All you've got is the pads on your shins and a mouth guard, if that. Pretty excellent in my opinion.

And that, my extremely small handful of readers, is my opinion on sports. Not too interesting I know. My apologies. Sports aren't entirely my thing.
